Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for over 20 years. She's well-known as a public speech writer. She founded Feminist Frequency the site with videos and guest posts discussing the depictions of females in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American blogger and media critic that has received awards for her work, is a feminist blogger. Feminist Frequency is an educational non-profit website that explores the representations of females in popular culture narratives. Dispelling stereotypes of women is her primary goals. In addition, Sarkeesian discusses issues of specific harassment of women on the internet and for other groups that are left out. Sarkeesian is a graduate in the fields of social thought and political science from York University. She is also an internationally acclaimed public speaking. Sarkeesian has given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group. Inquiring about gender identities and feminisms from an early age she launched her site Feminist Frequency in 2009 while studying at the university. She had a plan to start an internet-based program that would examine gender representation in games, however, she was also the subject of a harassment campaign online. The incident did not deter her, but instead strengthened her resolve as feminist media critic. Many awards have been presented to her as a way of acknowledging all of the contribution she has have made. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award award-winning media critic. She is also the founder and director of Feminist Frequency an educational and non-profit organisation that studies pop culture depictions of women.
