Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946, into a poor family with 12 kids eventually included, discovered early that she could get away from the hardships of her life by using a creative mind. The same year, she released her debut album for Gold Band Records an independent small label. In high school She made her mark in the local community, yet she yearned for an even bigger stage. In 1964, the day that followed her graduation from high school her family moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. At about this time Porter Wagoner was looking for the next girl to perform on his syndicated television show. Parton joined Grand Ole Opry 1969 after having signed in 1969 with RCA Records. It was not until 1974 that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's program as the popularity of her individual records including Joshua Coat, Many Colors, and Jolene was outstripping their joint efforts. Parton wrote "I I Will Never Forget You" to Wagoner soon after their split. The track was ranked number. In 1974, Parton's song"I Will Never Love You peaked at No.
