Taylor

Taylor Swift may be the most unusual of pop stars. She was an artist who could effectively bridge the gap between country and pop while sweeping the globe. Swift shed her roots in country music as if she was a second skin, and revealed she had the finest pop sensibility of her generation. Swift was the only musician/singer to be a part of the trending zeitgeist and take it on the road. This was evident in her early songs, particularly in her neo homage of Tim McGraw. On her 2nd album, Fearless (2008), Swift showed a songwriter getting to get acquainted with her. The album was able to have significant appeal not just in the U.S. where it racked up six platinum singles on the strength of the Top Ten hits Love Story and the hit single You Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well within the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's second album Speak Now, released almost two years after the debut, further consolidated this success. It helped propel Swift to superstardom. The three albums that followed -- Red 2012 1989 2014, and Reputation 2017, Swift's fame only grew. That was an obvious sign she had moved to an entirely new world of pop which she was able to fit into. Her name was always on top of the charts even after she changed her style with her sibling albums folklore & Evermore in 2020.
